The design of Mu Meilleur incorporates arcs for femininity and sequential lines for professionalism and prudence. The space is divided into two areas: the outer waiting area and the inner diagnosis and treatment area. These areas are separated by a striated glass door, providing a sense of privacy while maintaining a visual connection.
One of the unique properties of Mu Meilleur is its use of natural light. The clinic is located on the first floor of an apartment with a garden, resulting in low light conditions. To address this, the designer has dismantled and rebuilt part of the walls with glass bricks, allowing natural light to enter the space. The entrance and waiting area walls are also reconstructed with transparent glass bricks, promoting the continuity of light throughout the clinic. The entrance glass, which is pervious to light, creates visible light spots on the ground, guiding visitors into the clinic.
The realization of Mu Meilleur involves the use of various materials, including glass bricks, glass, artificial stone, and walnut. These materials contribute to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the clinic, creating a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.
Designing Mu Meilleur came with its fair share of challenges. The use of transparent structural glue for the glass bricks and the arrangement of staggered and standing stacks required careful consideration to maintain both aesthetics and structural stability. The designer successfully overcame these challenges, resulting in a design that is visually stunning and structurally sound.
Mu Meilleur is a testament to the creativity and ingenuity of Chiawen Chen. Completed in January 2022 in New Taipei City, Taiwan, this medical beauty clinic design showcases the designer's ability to create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
Awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023, Mu Meilleur has been recognized for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that incorporate best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to improvements in quality of life.
